I still remember that tingling feeling in my stomach when I first set foot in the small village of Nikiti, Sithonia on the Halkidiki peninsula. The sun was sparkling over the turquoise sea, the olive groves smelled warm and cool at the same time, and I couldn’t help but smile. I knew that here, somewhere among the winding alleys and sunny beaches, was my future property.
Buying property in Greece was something I had always dreamed of, but also something that felt a little scary. I had read up, calculated the budget, and understood that the rules and processes in Nikiti were different from Scandinavia. But despite the slight anxiety, there was an enormous excitement inside me – the feeling of being about to realize a dream that I had carried for a long time.
The first time I entered the house, I immediately felt a kind of magic. The rooms were bright, the garden large and lush, and I could already see myself sitting by the pergola on summer evenings with the smell of barbecue in the air. There was a slight worry: what if I made a mistake? But the feeling that quickly overcame me was joy. Joy at the opportunity to create something of my own in a place I loved, joy at the sun, the sea and the Halkidiki lifestyle that awaited.
When the papers were signed and the keys were in my hand, I felt almost unreal happiness. A mixture of pride, relief and pure happiness filled me. My first purchase in Greece was not just a property — it was the beginning of a new chapter, a place for my family and friends to gather memories, and a place where I could feel free.
